In order to promote international exchanges and cooperation and enhance the ability and level of zoonotic disease prevention and control, the 2024 International Conference on Prevention and Control of Zoonoses, hosted by Jinzhou Medical University and organized by Jinzhou Medical University’s zoonotic disease prevention and control collaborative innovation center and the School of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, was held on November 23rd. Focusing on the zoonotic disease prevention and control, the conference aimed to build an international exchange platform for working together with experts and scholars in the industryandimprove the professional ability and technical level of zoonosis prevention and control in China to promote the realization of the strategy “prevention and control from the same health source”.

Ward, Ph.D of Epidemiology in University of California Davis and PDVM of University of Sydney, Professor Sazaly BinAbubakar, Director of TIDREC and of the WHO Arbovirus Research and Reference Cooperation Center (Dengue and Severe Dengue), Wataru Kamitani, Professor of Virology of the Medical Research Institute of Gunma University, and relevant leaders and experts from the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Military Medicine, Peking University, China Agricultural University, Jilin University, Fudan University, Jinan University, Tianjin University, Nanjing Agricultural University, South China Agricultural University, Northeast Agricultural University, Shenyang Agricultural University, Yunnan Agricultural University attended the conference online and offline. President Qu Wei and Vice President Sun Hongzhi of JZMU attended the conference. The conference was chaired by Sun Hongzhi.
At the opening ceremony, Qu Wei expressed gratitude on behalf of the JZMU to the guests and experts. He pointed out that in the context of many challenges facing global public health, the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases has become an important aspect related to human health and social development. The prevention and control of zoonotic diseases is related to the high-quality development of animal husbandry and the physical health of the people, as well as public health security and national biosafety. It is an important part of implementing the rural revitalization strategy and the Healthy China strategy.
The conference brought together renowned experts and scholars in thefield of zoonotic diseases to explore new research achievements and exchange new technologies for monitoring and testing of emerging infectious diseases to further promote exchanges and cooperation and enhance the cutting-edge academic understanding of zoonotic disease prevention and control among teachers and students. It supported the integration of knowledge innovation, technological innovation, and regional innovation and enhance professional capabilities and technical levels in the field. It strongly promoted the implementation of the strategy of building a strong country in science and technology and a healthy China.
